To signify our commitment to sustainability, we recently partnered with Institute of Technical Education, Singapore (ITE) in the second phase of the HSBC-NYAA Sustainability Initiative, in support of Singapore's Green Plan 2030. ๐
Our cafe generates approximately 20kg of meat offcuts, including salmon and beef, on a monthly basis. As these offcuts often end up as waste, we recognized the imperative to curb waste and champion eco-conscious solutions to make better use of them.
Through collaborative brainstorming, the ITE team proposed a genius eco-friendly solution of repurposing the offcuts to prepare side dishes like salmon soup. Last Saturday (20 April 2024), Guest-of-Honour, Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, presented 2nd prize to the team during the awards ceremony for their innovative solution! ๐ฏ๐๐ป
With the team's solution, these offcuts potentially spared the atmosphere from 1,200kg of carbon emissions, a significant stride towards a greener future. ๐
