Three chefs. Two nights. One nostalgic Kiwi menu.

Magpie Singapore is proud to present Block Party, an exclusive two-night dinner bringing together three New Zealand-born chefs: Eliot Thomas of Magpie Singapore, Dane Andersen of Burnt Ends Singapore, and Caleb Carter of Emmelyn Restaurant Guangzhou, in celebration of Mātariki, the Māori New Year.

Eliot, Dane, and Caleb each left Aotearoa to chase their craft, cooking in world-renowned kitchens across continents, building careers far from where it all began. On 10 and 11 July, they come together under one roof in Tiong Bahru to mark a time of reflection, reunion, and looking towards what lies ahead. Expect an evening of nostalgic Kiwi cooking, rendered through the lens of three chefs who have spent years cooking around the world.

A dinner that tells the story of family, the roads that led Eliot and Kevin to Singapore, and a lust for life.

In celebration of Matariki, both chefs come together to cook a one-night-only dinner spread that encapsulates the expansiveness of their culinary journeys and what it means to be family. Matariki marks the Māori New Year and is a very special occasion, meant for remembering loved ones who have passed, celebrating the present with family, and planning for the future. Just half a year ago, both realised that their stories bore uncanny similarities— they were born into the world of cooking and found their cooking to echo the nuance of whānau (Māori for family).

For one Thursday evening on 28 May, chefs and of flutter east to Upstairs at for a collaborative supper, where Casa classics disappear into Magpie’s wonderfully unruly world of borderless cooking — only to return a little louder, slightly stranger, and arguably far more dangerous.
