It's no surprise that Tiong Bahru Market consistently tops the country's eatery charts, attracting visitors from all over Singapore who come to enjoy its delicious food fare.
The market has a rich history, having been built in 1955 by the SIT as the first modern market in a housing area. Before its construction, street-hawkers were under constant threat of being chased off as street-trading was illegal. The hawkers organised themselves and successfully petitioned the Governor of Singapore for a market to be built, leading to the creation of Tiong Bahru Market.
Today, Tiong Bahru Market continues to impress with its delectable dishes such as Char siew rice and stir-fried prawn noodles. With so many food courts and eateries in Singapore, it's a testament to the quality and popularity of Tiong Bahru Market that people from other parts of Singapore are willing to travel just to enjoy a meal here.
Managed by the National Environment Agency, Tiong Bahru Market is located on Seng Poh Road and offers an authentic taste of local cuisine in a vibrant atmosphere. If you're looking for an unforgettable culinary experience in Singapore, Tiong Bahru Market should be at the top of your list.
