Will be taking some time off to focus on immediate family needs. All other dining plans are also on hold.

Stay tuned to Instagram for updates as usual. Will bring this back when ready.

Take care everyone.

Some might say it's cumbersome to travel with an infant, but these 2 weeks in Italy is the single most amount of time I have spent with Sage since she was born. Wouldn't have done it any other way!

I managed to put her to sleep. She usually only wants .

I learnt that she likes birds and likes to terrorise them like Jolly.

She laughs at the weirdest things like me washing my feet.

She likes to wave and smile at Italian men.

At the rate she is giving out high fives to strangers, she is probably an extrovert.

She loves a road trip. Voluntarily enters the car seat.

She is probably a foodie! The amount of gnocchi she is eating is out of proportion to her size.

House bread in restaurants is life!

She likes to share food and actively plucks out some of her bread to everyone.

She loves the Minimeis! Whenever I am putting it on, she burst into excitement and is all ready for an adventure!

She hates the sea like her mother.

She is learning to express her likes and dislikes which is terrifying for us.

It has been a hell of a trip! Happy 1st Bday Sagey Bear!

The humble in our menu.

There is nothing more universal than chicken and it serves as a baseline of what woodfire cooking ultimately is.

Firstly, good produce. We get the French GG chicken from our neighbours .sg! These fresh chicken are as good as it gets without using a frozen Bresse chicken imported from France.
Secondly, no other seasoning other than salt! Woodfire itself is an ingredient and I really want to let that shine.
Thirdly, low and slow! This chicken is grilled slowly over the embers for an hour plus to ensure it retains its juiciness.

The humble chicken always sets the tone. Because if the chicken is good, chances are everything else that follows is going to be good. :)

It has been 2 long years and I hope that you are well. So much has changed in the private dining scene since. When we first started to bring guests to our place in 2016, we needed to convince people why they should even dine at someone's home instead of a restaurant.

Private (home) dining used to be a venue to eat rustic home-cooked food and has now transformed into mini fine dining restaurants complete with snacks on rocks, green oil drops in soup and tableside broth pouring (everyone, please stop pouring broth tableside).

While planning the reopening, being out of the game for 2 years, I was reflecting on where do I sit in this brand new landscape? Is rustic communal style good food out of touch? Do I need to change but be less authentic?

I ended up deciding to stick to who I am, continuing serving up rustic, communal-style good food because my purpose is to bring people together for a good time.

But we got to keep innovating while keeping the core spirit true. Being at the commercial shop space with proper exhaust, I got some new capabilities. :)

A brand new page for us,
The Mixtape Chef: Fire edition

Pan-Seared Foie Gras with Caramelised Apples.

This is my first time working with Foie and man, what a delicious product and what a classic pairing.

The richness of the foie being cut through by the bitterness of the caramel and tartness of the granny smith apples.

Delicious!

What a journey!

Baby Sage went down first and very quickly and I got the big C.

Honestly, I am quite relieved that we got it together as a family and do not have to worry about isolation and segregation plans. The first few days were definitely tough with the baby is feeling all needy and you are battling a fever at the same time.

But I couldn't be more thankful for this period. IT IS THE LONGEST PERIOD I HAVE SPENT WITH SAGE SINCE SHE WAS BORN!!!

Being stuck at home I also got to rekindle myself with the kitchen which still has the confinement nanny touches all over. Managed to bring it back to the shape I wanted. :)

Being able to cook 3 meals at home every day for the family has been an absolute joy.

I guess, thank you covid?

Ok 2022, let's go!
