We’ve had so many enquiries about our levain starter, so we’ve decided to release a small batch for those who are keen to give sourdough baking a go at home. We’re excited for you to start baking your own SD!
The levain you use makes a big difference to how your sourdough turns out — it affects flavour, texture, rise, and even how easy the dough is to work with.
Ours has been lovingly maintained in our bakery over many years, giving you a strong, active starter to kick-start your home baking journey.
Please note: quantities will be very limited. We’ll only be accepting early expressions of interest and pre-orders, as we’re currently short-staffed and in the process of packing down. Thanks so much for your understanding 🤍

As many of you know, Bakeopedia has always been a small, family-run business. After much thought, we’ve decided it’s time to hang up our aprons and retire—so Bakeopedia will be officially closing on 25 January.
We are so grateful to all our wonderful customers, staff, partners, and everyone who has supported us along the way. Your trust, encouragement, and love have meant more to us than words can say.
What you need to know:
• All existing orders will be completed as scheduled
• Our sourdough can be frozen beautifully for up to 2 months—so you can still enjoy a slice of us long after we’re gone
• Come down and support us while stocks last!!!
Running Bakeopedia has been such a joyful journey—full of flour, fun, and plenty of sweet memories. While it’s bittersweet to close this chapter, we leave with nothing but gratitude (and maybe a little extra cookie dough in the kitchen!).
Thank you for being part of our story. Wishing everyone happiness, success, and plenty of delicious treats in the future!
