Last night was a wild evening on Satay Street at the Lau Pa Sat Festival Market in Singapore!! My Singaporean competitive eating friend Zermatt Neo and I each tried to break the 20-Minute Chicken Satay Record Challenge hosted by Satay Power 6!! Years ago, American pro eater Joey Chestnut impressively ate 200 chicken satay skewers (~10g/EA) in less than 10 minutes. 3 years later in 2019, Zermatt went back and ate 220 in less than 18 minutes. To beat the food challenge, I had to finish 221 or more satay within the 20 minute time limit. Zermatt collaborated with me for each of our channels, and simultaneously tried to beat his own record. I was very nervous, and unsure whether I could eat that fast. I knew my only way to win would be to treat it like an , and eat at least 12 per minute. I haven’t done an eating contest since 2015, and it was my first time listening to music via headphones in many years. I did all the homework I could beforehand and ended up being satisfied with my strategy choice. Not only was I able to beat the challenge by eating 221, but also I had some time left over to eat a few more. It was my proudest victory in a very long time, and I’m excited to eventually post the video. Thanks to everybody who was there to cheer us on, and we look forward to meeting everyone at the remaining 3 events!!
