Meet Arunn

He was only 15 when he started working at Señor Taco Clark Quay as my barback. Back then, life was comfortable while his dad was around—but after his dad passed away, he stepped up and stood on his own feet, continuing to work part-time with us.

After completing his studies, he joined the army and later secured an office job. Still, when we needed support in Clark Quay, he didn’t hesitate to leave it behind and come help us.

If there’s one guy who can sell 6 bottles of spirits in one night… you might think it’s Iman —no, we are kidding—it’s Arun.

He has consistently delivered excellent customer service and earned many 5-star reviews online. More than that, he’s someone we could always rely on.

Alyona joined Señor Taco in 2019, and from that moment, something subtle but profound began to change. The place didn’t just evolve - it awakened. It became more refined, more modern, more alive. There was a new sensitivity in the air, a new attention to beauty that could be felt before it was even seen.

Helena has a rare gift - the ability to see what others don’t, and to care about it deeply.

An extraordinarily talented designer and photographer, she didn’t just create visuals - she shaped emotion. Her work lives in every corner of Señor Taco, in the details that most people never stop to analyze, but everyone feels. The napkin you hold, the coaster under your drink, the texture of a menu, the colors that surround you, the way a plate is presented, the light in a photograph - none of it is accidental. It is all touched by her eye, her discipline, her quiet obsession with beauty.

She didn’t decorate Señor Taco. She gave it a soul.

Héctor joined Señor Taco in 2024, fresh out of school, standing at a crossroads - step into the safety of a corporate job, or dive into the unpredictable, demanding, and electric world of Señor Taco.

He chose the fire.

When he walked in, he had no experience. None. Everything had to be learned from zero. And not in a calm environment, but in the middle of one of the most intense moments in our history: the opening of Clarke Quay, where expectations were sky-high and pressure was relentless.

It’s the kind of moment that breaks people. But not Héctor.

He learned fast. Really fast. In a matter of days and yes, after a few broken glasses along the way, he found his rhythm. And once he did, there was no looking back. What started as a challenge quickly became his stage.

Héctor didn’t just become a bartender, he became a presence behind the bar. He immersed himself in the world of agave spirits, mastering the stories, the flavors, the nuances of tequila and mezcal. Soon, he was no longer just serving drinks - he was guiding customers through an experience, helping them discover, choose, and enjoy from our extensive collection. And people noticed.

He became a signature of the bar. A magnet for energy. Charismatic, sharp, and always on point. Bar sales grew not by chance, but because Héctor knew how to connect, how to recommend, how to elevate the moment.

THE MUSICAL BEAT OF SEÑOR TACO

Alina joined Señor Taco in 2013 when live music became part of the soul of Señor Taco.

From the very beginning, music was never just entertainment for us. It was part of the magic. It brought people together, created joy, and gave Señor Taco a spirit unlike any other place. A good dance, a margarita, and some tacos — that was always part of the formula. And Alina helped turn that spirit into something unforgettable.

Her musical talent is extraordinary. A gifted pianist and one of the most respected musicians in Singapore, Alina became the leader of the Señor Taco resident band and helped make Señor Taco the Latin Music Capital of Asia. She curated the songs, shaped the energy, and brought to life the soundtrack that defined so many unforgettable nights.

Through her leadership, Señor Taco became a place where people could experience the richness of Latin music in all its colors — cumbia, norteño, mariachi, salsa, bachata, Mexican pop, reggaeton, and so much more. Not only Mexican music, but also Brazilian, Colombian, Puerto Rican, Spanish, Venezuelan, and many other sounds from across the Latin world. Alina and the band could do it all, and they did it with style, passion, and excellence.

She is loved across the music community, and artists from all over the world would regularly join her at Señor Taco. Under her leadership, dozens of musicians found not only a stage, but an opportunity. She opened doors for rising artists, gave them a platform, and many times even gave them a place to stay. That says everything about who she is. Alina is not only a great artist — she is a wonderful human being with a huge heart.

Soni joined Señor Taco in 2014, and from the very beginning, she brought something that cannot be taught: joy.

She is the definition of warmth, positivity, and heart. Always cheerful, always smiling, always full of light — Soni has one of those beautiful souls whose energy lifts everyone around her. Her presence is contagious, and anyone who has worked with her or been served by her knows exactly what that means.

From the beginning, it was obvious he was not ordinary.

What made Iman truly exceptional was never just his stamina or his skill. It was his fire.

His drive helped entire Señor Taco operations flourish. Iman brought fierce dedication, relentless energy, and a level of ownership that is incredibly rare. He did not just come to work. He lived the business. In fact, one of the few problems with Iman was that he did not want to take days off. He pushed so hard, cared so much, and gave so much of himself to the brand that Human Resources sometimes had to step in and force him to rest.

That says everything.

Iman is fiercely competitive, deeply loyal, business-savvy, and always focused on sales, service, and results. He has an extraordinary tolerance for pressure and an almost unmatched instinct for solving problems. When things got difficult, he did not step back. He stepped forward.

He was also instrumental in the logistics and ex*****on of major World Cup events that brought in more than 3,000 people and helped make Señor Taco the number one Corona beer seller in Singapore. Those moments did not happen by accident. They happened because people like Iman were willing to give everything they had.

Riya joined the Señor Taco family in 2011, and from the very beginning, it was clear that she was someone truly special.

She has a rare gift. Though she has Indian DNA, she has a Mexican soul. Over the years, many cooks and chefs have passed through Señor Taco, but Riya has been the constant — the backbone of our authentic Mexican flavor and one of the great guardians of our kitchen. Her understanding of Mexican seasoning, tradition, and soul is something extraordinary. She does not just cook Mexican food. She honors it.

Riya has carried and protected some of our most treasured recipes — recipes rooted in generations of Mexican families and inspired by the rich culinary traditions of places like Oaxaca, Yucatán, Puebla, Mexico City, Ensenada, and Monterrey. In her hands, those flavors have been treated with respect, pride, and incredible consistency.

THE PASTOR KING OF ASIA

Franklin joined Señor Taco in September 2009, and in many ways, his story is the story of Señor Taco itself.

He has been there through every era, every challenge, every reinvention, and every triumph — from the tiny 10-square-meter taco stand at Clarke Quay, to the full restaurant at CHIJMES, to the unforgettable Orchard Towers branch with its colorful characters, and finally to the Clarke Quay taquería 3.0 filled with music, energy, and life. Very few people have witnessed the full journey the way Franklin has. He did not just work at Señor Taco. He helped carry it, shape it, and keep it alive.

If there is one person who has earned the title of Pastor Taco King of Asia, it is Franklin. For more than 17 years, he has stood at the taco station with unmatched skill, pride, and consistency. He has prepared hundreds of thousands of tacos, burritos, guacamole, and salsas with a level of care that cannot be taught — only lived. For countless customers, seeing Franklin at the station was not just part of the experience. It was the experience. His presence meant the food would be right, the standard would be high, and the soul of Señor Taco would be there.

But what makes Franklin unforgettable goes far beyond his talent.

He is always on time. Always in a good mood. He never complains. He never crumbles under pressure. Through the longest nights, the craziest shifts, the busiest celebrations, and the hardest seasons, Franklin kept showing up with the same quiet strength, discipline, and loyalty. He has worked until 6 in the morning in the old days when those hours were still allowed. He has lived through five World Cups, endless New Year’s nights, and all the ups and downs that come with building something real over so many years. And through it all, he remained steady.

This message comes from the heart.

Over the years, Señor Taco became so much more than a restaurant. It became a place where people gathered, celebrated, connected, found a partner and felt at home. For many of you, it became part of your weekly routine—some of you coming two, three times a week—and that is something we never took for granted.

We’ve shared countless moments together. Birthdays, celebrations, late nights, laughter, music, and so many unforgettable memories. What was created inside those walls was not just a business—it was a community.

You made Señor Taco what it was.

Your energy, your loyalty, your presence… that’s what gave life to this place. We were proud to bring authentic Mexican food, music, and culture to Singapore—but what truly made it special was all of you.

There are too many faces, too many stories, too many nights to count—but every single one of them mattered.

From the bottom of our heart, thank you.

Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for supporting us.
Thank you for making Señor Taco feel like home.

After extensive discussions over the past weeks, we have made the difficult decision to close Señor Taco at Clarke Quay.

Despite our best efforts to find a viable path forward—including negotiations with the landlord, internal cost adjustments, and exploration of new investment—it has not been possible to align the business with the current operating conditions.

The key factor has been the significant increase in rent, which took effect ahead of the anticipated completion of the adjacent CanningHill Piers development.

While this development was expected to materially increase foot traffic, it has been delayed by approximately 18 months. As a result, the expected uplift in demand has not yet materialized, while the higher cost base in rent has been in place for the last 12 months.

After several requests over the last months to align the rent we were offered limited support; however, this was structured to begin only in June and for a limited duration, which did not address the immediate cash flow requirements or provide sufficient visibility for a sustainable operation.

Given the current circumstances, and in the absence of a workable short-term solution, the landlord has exercised its right to re-enter the unit.

This is not a decision we take lightly. We are proud of what we built at Clarke Quay, and deeply grateful to our team, partners, and customers who have supported us throughout this journey for the last 17 years.

We will now focus on managing the closure process in an orderly and responsible manner.
