Does these items look familiar?

At Greenwood, i created a little heritage corner showcasing some items that were used in our restaurants in the past.

I’ve now revived it for a little corner at home.

(Swipe right if you’d like to see the previous display at Greenwood)

What’s for lunch today? None other than our slice fish noodle soup and prawn paste chicken at our collab with Tanglin Cookhouse!

Yes! Our collab is still on-going!

Over the past month, both the team at TCH and me have been trying to make some improvements with the soup and i’m very happy with it.

Home-based business has its limits, but we try to make do!

One of the main limits is freezer space, so f i can turn around the freezer space, i can also produce more! But, it also takes at least a day to freeze the soups and each batch there’s a limit to how much i can freeze.

So for producing frozen soups for group buys above 30 packs, i would generally need to split the cooking and freezing over 2 days!.

Any group buy enquiries, do drop us a DM!

Cleaning is mandatory after each cooking session. Surfaces are wiped and the stoves are also cleaned. All pots used are also cleaned properly for the next use.

Facebook likes to remind us what happened in the past. 5 years ago with the pandemic and lockdowns, F&Bs were forced to be creative to survive.

With the 2nd lockdown looming, we took swift action to R&D frozen items as an added revenue stream. It didn’t bring in a lot, but at that point, every bit extra helps.

Fast forward to today, F&Bs face yet another challenge. Constant increasing costs across the board in running costs from ingredients, salaries (and manpower) and rents, coupled with rapid change in consumer patterns and also never-ending increasing competition because even though costs to start and F&B is high, the barrier for entry is low.

Despite the challenges in the F&B industry, many still dream of being an F&B owner.

After weathering pandemics and economic crises, we ultimately closed our final outlet and pivoted to being a home-based business selling our signature soup in frozen form.

To every F&B owner and operator still grinding through the storm today, I see you, and salute your hustle. And to our loyal customers who followed us from the restaurants to our home kitchen, thank you for keeping the flame alive.

Turn your favorite Ka-Soh fish soup into a zesty Tom Yum Nam Sai (Clear Tom Yum)! 🌶️🍋

Not only is the base packed with protein, collagen, and calcium, but giving it a Thai twist is surprisingly easy.

How to make it:

* Simmer Ka-Soh’s fish soup base with lemongrass, shallots, kaffir lime leaves, chilli padi, and lime until the fragrant oils release.

* Toss in your favorite veggies and protein.
* Boil until cooked and enjoy!

Healthy, comforting, and full of flavor right at home. ✨

Ka-Soh Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Cantonese cuisine. As one of Singapore's oldest independently owned restaurants, Ka-Soh has been the pioneer and home of the Cant for years. With two outlets located in Outram and Greenwood, Ka-Soh offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for any occasion.

One of the standout dishes at Ka-Soh is their Spare Pork Ribs, which has received rave reviews from food critics and customers alike. But that's not all - their Fish Intestines with Silver Sprouts (银牙鱼肠) is a rare delicacy that you won't find anywhere else in Singapore. This old-school dish used to be commonly found in hawkers, but due to its tedious preparation process, it has become increasingly rare.

Another must-try dish at Ka-Soh is their Achar (阿渣), which is house-made with their very own recipe. This appetizer perfectly balances sweet and sour flavors with a hint of chili, enhanced by fresh crushed peanuts and sesame.

And if you're feeling adventurous, be sure to try their limited portion Crayfish (虾婆), which is sure to tantalize your taste buds.

Overall, Ka-Soh Restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience that combines traditional Cantonese flavors with modern culinary techniques. So head on over to either of their outlets and treat yourself to some delicious food today!
