Foreword Coffee Roasters is a socially-conscious coffee shop that emphasizes inclusivity and community. A member of raiSE since 2017, the establishment has earned the prestigious Enabling Mark (Platinum) Award, recognizing its commitment to best practices in employing individuals with disabilities. The coffee shop sources its beans from various Asian countries such as China, Indonesia, and Laos, partnering with local farmers who prioritize economic well-being within their communities. Foreword also promotes environmental sustainability by encouraging patrons to minimize waste and use reusable cups when possible. Founded as a small cafe at the National University of Singapore, Foreword has expanded its mission to provide valuable training and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and mental health needs while delivering quality coffee experiences.

With support from SG Enable’s Enabling Academy, Foreword Coffee is excited to offer two training programmes for persons with disabilities looking to work in the F&B industry, with a focus on specialty coffee service!

Since 2017, we stayed true to our social misson on providing training and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and those in-recovery from mental health issues.

We are thrilled to announce our new space! We’ve partnered with Procter & Gamble Singapore to establish their in-house café that aims to do more than just serve coffee—it’s about creating genuine employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and special needs within a corporate environment. For the first time, we are expanding our offerings beyond our usual espresso-based drinks to include local favourites like kopi and kaya toast.

Thanks to the support from Procter & Gamble Singapore, this café will also serve as a training ground for internships with SPED students, providing them with valuable real-world experience and a pathway to employment with Foreword Coffee. Additionally, we have dedicated space for social enterprises to showcase and sell their merchandise, starting with .gifting as our first featured partner.

This initiative represents a meaningful step towards realizing what inclusive workplaces can look like—one cup of coffee (and one kaya toast) at a time.

What a day!

Foreword Coffee was recognised as 1 of 17 social enterprises in the “verified leading social enterprise” tier in ’s new membership tiers.
