What benefits do we get from eating cauliflower?
Our Harissa Cauliflower Bowl is a great addition to keep you satisfied for longer, with loads of colourful vegetables raking in the benefits of phytonutrients and fibre into your diet!
This meal also qualifies for nutrient claims following HPB’s guidelines of:
- No Added Sugar
- Low in Cholesterol
- Rich in Vitamin C
In Particular, Cauliflower is very high in Vitamin C, attaining more than half of your daily recommended needs with a serving of cauliflower. Vitamin C cannot be synthesised by our bodies, thus it is crucial to incorporate into our diets! Vitamin C is involved in the production of collagen, protein metabolism, antioxidant and immune function (Office of Dietary Supplements - Vitamin C, n.d.-b). Collagen is found in our connective tissues while also having an important role in wound healing. Vitamin C also improves our absorption of non-heme iron found in plant sources, helping us hit our daily iron requirements too!
Cauliflower also has a solid fibre content, meeting close to 10% of your daily needs with a single serving (100g).This dietary fibre acts as a nutrient source for the healthy bacteria in your gut, reducing inflammation and promoting digestive health (Barber et al., 2020). Sufficient fibre consumption helps with constipation and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (Van Der Schoot et al., 2022) (Milajerdi et al., 2021). A diet high in fibre-rich vegetables like cauliflower is associated with a lower risk of lifestyle diseases like heart disease, diabetes and cancer (Aune et al., 2017)! Fibre also provides bulk into your meals and keeps you satiated throughout the day, helping in obesity prevention (Akhlaghi, 2022).

Zooming into the spotlight of this new dish beet-ing all other ingredients, we have Beetroot!
Beetroot is a root vegetable that shines through its abundance of micronutrients that contribute to numerous health benefits.
The vast profile of essential micronutrients provided by beetroots include Folate (Vitamin B9), Manganese, Potassium, Iron and Vitamin C. Folate, a key micronutrient important for tissue growth and cell function, is particularly important for pregnant women in their early stages, reducing the risk of birth defects of the brain and spine. Iron is crucial in the transport of oxygen around your body, as it is used to make myoglobin and haemoglobin which helps transport oxygen from the lungs to your muscles and all other tissues in your body. At FABA we create impact through food, and we dream of doing it at a large scale.
We know that a sustainable diet can have incredible nutritional upside for all-eaters, at all stages of life, across a broad variety of health goals, be it weight-loss, muscle building, or eating for longevity.
But its rare for us to be happy with our progress. Even the smallest of wins leaves us hungry for more.
As we mark two years since we shipped our first meals, there isn’t a better time to take a moment to reflect on the incredible support we’ve had from both our long-time customers, and those of you who only found us recently.
