Should i eat before or after working out?

Is it even a question of either or?

Eat before the gym or after, well that depends on a few different variables.

So when do you eat before the gym?

I think many will agree that if you cannot train optimally in a fasted state you should eat prior. The best time to eat before the gym is maybe an hour to 90min, give your body time to digest while delivering energy to fuel your body during the session.

A good pre-workout meal for muscle gain is 2-3 Gluten Free Lundtberg Cinnamon Rice Cakes w/ some Grass-Fed Whey Isolate. This is great for mass. I personally don’t do dairy and prefer a collagen, that said a high quality whey isolate has a much high bioavailability and is ideal in this situation.

Another good food to eat before the gym are steel cut oats. Just make sure to include some high quality protein.

Let’s say someone wants the opposite, a good pre-workout meal for weight loss would be water. Seriously, id prob train in a fasted state. In fact, I love getting up early and hitting the gym with only some coffee and some MCT’s in the morning.

If need something in your stomach to train, then you could do some blueberries, and/or some nuts, even some hardboiled eggs would be great as a pre-workout meal.

Post-workout is an entirely different conversation.

Eat after the gym, point blank.

The best food to eat after the gym should be selected based on your training session, and your current goals.

In the video, I go over why EVERYONE should have some carbs post-workout.

Your post-workout meal just might be the most important of the day.

Let me know in the comments below if you have any specific questions or scenarios. I am on a content roll, and would love ideas for new videos.
