Earlier this year, I had an amazing trip to Ethiopia, the land of origins. A beautiful country, amazing people, my favourite cuisine and a world of learning from the amazing chef Dawit and team. An opportunity to cook in their kitchen, serve the food we made and enjoy it with warm injera.

For the uninitiated, Ethiopia has one of the best gluten free food range, some amazing spices and one of the most powerful grains in the world “Teff”

While Ethiopia was a distant dream then.. a decade ago, this recipe of my Ethiopian Doro wat was published in a Singapore based international cookbook.

Here comes my very own Sindhi traditional “Gheeyar”. Pure love from one home to another, from maternal homes to daughters. So much love in every bite.

This is sourdough Gheeyer is dunked in honey,saffron, rose and cardamom. Pure farm honey brought to us by a fasting gentleman from Bangladesh. It’s a gesture of love that enhanced the flavor of this sweet by multiple times.

To get to Bedok South Avenue in Singapore, you can take the East West MRT line and alight at Bedok MRT Station. From the station, you can board any of the following bus services: 222, 14, 196, or 3. Alight at Block 71 bus stop and walk for about five minutes to get to your destination.

If driving, you can take the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards Changi Airport and exit towards Bedok North Road. Turn right onto Bedok South Avenue 3 and continue straight until you reach your destination. There are public parking lots available along Bedok South Avenue.
