In Indonesia, Chinese Peranakan families of mixed descent typically come together on the 15th day of the New Lunar Year to enjoy the delightful fusion dish called Lontong Cap Go Meh, which has been adapted from Javanese cooking. The festive spread includes various side dishes and ingredients, creating a scrumptious celebration.
Our Lontong Cap Go Meh consists of home made rice cakes, opor ayam, beef semur (braised in nutmeg and other spices) choko with prawns, bamboo shoots with chicken liver and gizzards, egg belado, soy beans powder and sambal bajak.
Lontong Cap Go Meh is believed to represent the blending of two cultures, combining the celebratory spirit of the New Year with the symbol of good fortune. The elongated shape of the Lontong rice cake is said to symbolize longevity in this context.
This exquisite dish is available for dine-in and takeaway from 8th Feb to 12 Feb 2025.
