Our take on the classic dirty matcha, topped with a lightly whipped matcha cream for a smoother, softer mouthfeel.

The creamy matcha layer helps balance the boldness of medium to dark roast espresso, rounding out its bitterness while allowing the earthy depth of matcha to come through more gently, while adding more body to the drink.

A sparkling fizzy espresso brings a completely different dimension to coffee.

We went back to the drawing board and reimagined what the modern tea experience could feel like — refreshing flavours, layered textures, thoughtful craftsmanship, and drinks designed to feel exciting again.

This is Matchaya, evolved.

Last weekend, our Tiong Bahru space played host to Tyler’s 1st birthday 🎈

Filled with balloons and the happiest energy, the party began with a buffet spread prepared by our in-house chefs for friends and family to enjoy.

The afternoon continued with fun activities, followed by soft serve after the meal, and a cake cutting session.

【Space Takeover】

Hosted a team bonding session at Tiong Bahru, starting the evening with a casual buffet-style dinner.

There was a mix of comfort mains and light bites like mac and cheese, dashi chicken and takoyaki, alongside matcha and houjicha, and soft serve at the end as a tea+ssert ✨

After dinner, the group of 30 moved into the tea room for a guided matcha and wellness workshop. It was a slower, more focused session where they were introduced to ceremonial matcha, how it’s typically prepared, and how different profiles can vary in taste and texture.

From there, the format opened up into smaller group activities, almost like moving through different stations. One of the first was a smear test, where participants tried 3 different matcha powders side by side without knowing what grades they were, just to get a feel of the differences before revealing 🍵

The last part brought everything together with a DIY ceremonial matcha session, where everyone got to whisk and prepare their own bowl from start to finish.

【Royal Sakura Soft Serve】

Over the years, Sakura season has become an opportunity for us to keep experimenting and to revisit a familiar motif, thinking how it can be expressed anew each year.

Royal Sakura Soft Serve began with the idea of pairing Earl Grey tea leaves with sakura. What emerged was a surprisingly balanced profile: the floral sweetness of sakura gently offset by the bold, robust depth of Earl Grey 🍂

The milk is infused with tea leaves for 48 hours to fully draw out their flavour, before being blended with sakura concentrate from Odawara, Kanagawa prefecture 🌸

Using extracted and concentrated sakura allows for a vivid floral aroma and a delicate pink hue.

A bit more nuanced, tea-led and not too overpowering - especially enjoyable as a parfait, topped with fresh berries for a layer of tartness.

【The Descent of Spring】

This year’s Sakura campaign is inspired by the contrast between 2 main elements - the ethereal softness of cherry blossom petals and the deep, robust flavour profile of Royal Earl Grey.

Rather than noise or spectacle, this season unfolds as a slower, more mindful journey into renewal, with large batches of tea leaves cold-steeped over 48 hours before being blended into soft serve.

We’re also putting the spotlight on our signature Royal Milk Tea, made with aromatic black tea from Hyogo prefecture and topped with a creamy sakura cloud.
